A popular way of showing of skills in many online games are by adding a forum signature to the forums were you debate. These forum signatures often take form of an image that is automatically updated with ingame statistics, such as level (if the game is an mmorpg) or frags (if the game is a fps).
To my knowledge no such service existed for QUAKE LIVE, the newest game from id software, so I set out to create such a service.
The statistics shown on the images generated, are collected from the official QUAKE LIVE site (www.quakelive.com), and stored in a local database in order to enable swift generation of the images. Furthermore this approach avoid uneccesary use of my bandwidth and id software's bandwidth. All the collected data are stored for further processing such that I later will be able to add statistical options that currently isn't provided by id software.
The signature generator is created in PHP with a MySQL database, but for the fun of it I have thrown in some Javascript (AJAX) and CSS, but mostly because it has been a long time since I last did any web development.
The site can be found here: quakelive.sjkp.dk
