I finally decided to upgrade my very old windows XP installation, to something more recent: Windows 7.

But as every upgrade that introduced some new problems, like favorite software which isn't working anymore.

Have basically sucked since win2k, and windows 7 is no exception. To get it to work with at least my other windows xp machines i had to do the following, after enabling the Guest user account.

Logon Failure the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer Installing the windows ressource kit generates some sort of incompatible warning, but it works, so dont worry.

As long as you put your computer to sleep and do not reboot it or turn it off you can run unactivated windows 7 forever.

You cannot activate windows 7 if you havn't rebooted after doing an rearm. Read more about it here Error: 0xC004D302 : The Security processor reported that the trusted data store was rearmed

Run cmd > slui.exe in order to bring up the activation window. Should also be accessible from System > Properties.
